PvE Protection Warrior Talents & Builds

tbc classic pve protection warrior talents & builds

Above is a build that focuses primarily on maximizing TPS potential. This build can work for raids, heroics and regular dungeons with the inclusion of Improved Thunder Clap. If you cannot reach the defence cap without Anticipation, you can take 3 points from Tactical Mastery and 2 points from Improved Bloodrage.

You can grab Improved Defensive Stance if you wish for a more defensive build, but it should be noted that it’s not very necessary at this point in the game. Shield Wall is an ability we use in anticipation of heavy incoming damage and is not expected to last very long, so, Improved Shield Wall is not necessary, either.

For a regular tank with 300 skill you want 9% to max out. If you have 305 skill you only need 6%

You don’t NEED to be hit capped as a tank, typically you run around 3-5% hit. i have had a issue with that and my load out/spec right now is

not trying to act like a dick but this has been main for years and i have been playing warrior tank Vanilla-to shadow-lands i’m sorry but i disagae with 80% of guide’s and i voice how i feel about it i still have a folder with me spec/gear all writing down to this day when they changed the talent points in cata was my roll for the guild i was in to keep track of it all for all are raiders and when i say hit cap to me that is around the 3-5% hit. now this classic with fury/prot yes i would 100% say drop some def to hit 9% but back in the day you made ran into 1 to 3 fury/prots

We’re also being treated to the pre-nerf version of each raid boss,”

No we’re not, it’s the same wattered down scenario as with Vanilla classic
2.4.3 is what we got sadly

Defense is VERY important in TBC, even in 5mans bosses will wreck you if you’re not defense capped. People only skipped out on defense because very few bosses hit hard in vanilla. In TBC, almost every boss hits hard and a crit can chunk you for 60-70% of your health. Plus, there’s a lot more +def gear in TBC so it’s much easier to be capped.

First of all, wow, never thought I would receive such an in depth answer, thank you! Also, trying his spec out I do in fact find myself losing everything when changing stance, as I do have macro to charge into defensive stance. So I’m keen into changing to a new spec again. I understand that this is a far fetched request, would you mind helping me finding the right spec for me( based on gear etc) I constantly feel rage starved and struggle to keep aggro. Granted most people just nuke the shit out of everything outside of raids. I in general had better gear, but during the fights where i was tanking he quickly gained threat( not snatching aggro but just climbing) comparing to when I tried to keep second on threat after dealing with my main targets I just couldn’t reach. Email/discord/ anything if you have time.

Hi, I just started picking up warrior and wondered if you had an idea for a decent Fury build that went into prot to allow normal dungeon tanking/group content while leveling. Could not find a reliable resource personally.

Thanks, yeah I should have said I was lvl 65. I just wanted a bit more survivability while being able to dish out damage to help guildies through some dungeons, ive seen so many prot warriors have issues so worrid about going deep prot
