With the PvP season ending tomorrow, on May 3rd, most players did not expect any major PvP-related news. Blizzard will once again surprise us positively however, as Kaivax just announced a host of amazing PvP changes coming with the end of the season.
Specifically, the changes are as follows:
- The arena point discount for Season 3 PvP gear will be increased to 60%, from 50%. If you managed to hit the cap of 5,000 arena points, you can now buy an entire set plus a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weapon & offhand combo.
- Tier 6 tokens may now be exchanged for Season 3 PvP gear, similar to how previous tier tokens could be exchanged for previous season PvP gear.
- The arena point formula has been tuned. Every player will see an increase in arena points gained, with players at lower ratings seeing a bigger increase.
These changes are already amazing, and to make things even better, they will affect this week’s arena reset, on May 3rd for NA servers and May 4th for EU servers. You will get more arena points, AND the items will be cheaper. As a long-time fan of PvP, it is very encouraging to see Blizzard showing so much love to PvP players, with PvP historically being neglected by Blizzard, typically focusing more on PvE.
What are your feelings on this topic? Are these changes going to help you, or are you more interested in participating in PvP now that getting PvP gear is easier? Let us know in the comments below!
With Burning Crusade Classic Season 3 ending this week, we can now see how the results are approximating, and we’ve decided to make some adjustments that will increase players’ ability to purchase PvP gear.
- After Season 3 is complete, the discount on Season 3 gear will be increased to 60% (was 50%).
- Developers’ notes: This should allow for players who reached the cap of 5,000 Arena Points to buy their set and a two-hand weapon, or their set and main hand and an offhand item.
- Tier 6 tokens will now be exchangeable for Season 3 gear.
- The Arena Points calculation has been updated to reduce the disparity of weekly Arena Points earned between different ratings.
- Developers’ note: All Arena players should see an increase in points earned, and those at lower ratings should see a higher increase.
These changes will occur during maintenance and will affect the final Season 3 calculations that take place this week (tomorrow, May 3 in this region).
Thank you!
Many of my BiS pieces are from Arenas, so I like this change 😛
